L&S help tackle refurbishment of Fareham Heathens Rugby Club

As part of their Community Fund initiative, L&S Waste is supporting the refurbishment of the clubhouse at Fareham Heathens Rugby Club.

Fareham Heathens RFC, based at Cams Alders Recreation Ground, was formed in 1974 and today offers access to the game of rugby for boys and girls aged U6-U18 (girls to U13), along with senior mens and ladies rugby.

The Community Rugby Club, which is run entirely by volunteers and completely self-funded, relies heavily on the support of the local community and business.

Fareham Heathens RFC Director of Rugby, Bernie Rhodes, said: “The current clubhouse is over 40 years old and we rely heavily on support from local business and individuals to help us maintain and improve our aging facilities.

“Last year we refurbished our bar and club room and this year we have bold plans to fully refurbish our toilet facilities that are now very dated and not really fit for purpose.

“Like all building projects we will be generating a lot of waste as we rip out all the old toilets, sinks and cubicles. As such we approached L&S Waste, as a well respected skip supplier and local employer, to see if they could help out with the provision of some skips. They kindly agreed to help and the club is very grateful for their support.”

The improved facilities will be a massive boost to the Club members and visitors and will also help to maximise additional revenue opportunities through the hiring out of the Club facilities.

L&S Waste Management Managing Director, Mick Balch, said: “Our L&S in the Community Fund was set up to help support projects exactly like this. Organisations like Fareham RFC provide an excellent service to the community and rely on the support of local volunteers and businesses to keep going.

“We are more than happy to help out with the much needed refurbishment of the club’s facilities, and we wish them well for the rest of the season and beyond.”
